What We Recover

Everything we do comes down to one thing: getting a vehicle that cannot move to where it needs to be. Emergency callouts around Dublin, booked transport anywhere in Ireland.

Breakdown Recovery - Alloy Hills Recovery, nationwide

Breakdown Recovery

If your car will not start, will not steer or is simply not safe to drive, you need it lifted, not dragged. We run tilt-and-slide flatbeds, so your car is winched on, strapped down at the wheels and carried - no drivetrain wear, no bumper damage, no rope around the tow eye.

We are based in Littlepace, Dublin 15, which puts us on the N3 and the M50, and on the motorway network from there. Ring us and you will get a straight answer on how long we will actually be, not an optimistic one.

  • Tilt-and-slide flatbed - your car is carried, not towed on its own wheels
  • Recovery to your home, your garage, a dealership or an NCT centre
  • Non-runners, seized engines, snapped cambelts, gearbox failures
  • Cars with no keys, flat batteries or locked steering
Car Towing - Alloy Hills Recovery, nationwide

Car Towing

Towing sounds simple until it goes wrong. A car pulled on a rope by someone who is not insured for it is a bumper, a sump or a gearbox away from a much bigger bill - and if it is on a public road without cover, it is a Garda problem too.

Our trucks are licensed and insured for vehicle transport, our drivers are trained on modern low-clearance and all-wheel-drive cars, and every job carries goods-in-transit cover while your vehicle is on our bed.

  • Local tows, cross-city tows and long-distance transport nationwide
  • All-wheel-drive and 4x4 vehicles towed on a full flatbed (never two wheels down)
  • Electric and hybrid vehicles - flatbed only, as the manufacturers require
  • Low-clearance and modified cars loaded on extended ramps
Accident & Collision Recovery in Dublin - Alloy Hills Recovery, nationwide

Accident & Collision Recovery in Dublin

After a collision the priority is people, then traffic, then the car. We will talk you through where to stand, what to photograph and what to exchange while we are on the way.

On site we lift the vehicle - including cars with collapsed suspension, locked wheels or deployed airbags - sweep the glass and debris off the carriageway, and give you a written recovery docket with times, locations and photographs. That docket is what your insurer or solicitor will ask for later.

  • Immediate 24/7 attendance at collision scenes
  • Vehicles with locked wheels, bent steering or collapsed suspension lifted with skates
  • Glass, plastic and fluid debris cleared from the carriageway
  • Written recovery docket with timestamps and photographs for your insurer
Small Van & 4x4 Recovery - Alloy Hills Recovery, nationwide

Small Van & 4x4 Recovery

A van off the road is a day of work gone, so we treat commercial jobs as priority. We recover small and medium vans - Berlingo, Combo, Caddy, Connect, Doblo and Partner class - loaded or empty, along with 4x4s and pickups.

We carry cars and light vans, so there is a limit: a long-wheelbase Luton, a box van or anything over about three and a half tonnes is beyond what we carry. Tell us the model on the call and we will say straight away whether we can take it rather than turning up and wasting your morning.

Four-wheel-drive vehicles go on a full flatbed with all four wheels off the ground. Towing an all-wheel-drive vehicle with two wheels turning is the fastest way to destroy a transfer case, and no reputable operator will do it.

  • Berlingo, Combo, Caddy, Connect, Doblo and Partner class vans
  • Pickups and 4x4s carried with all four wheels off the ground
  • Loaded vans recovered with the load left sealed and secure
  • Honest answer on the phone if the vehicle is too big for our bed
Co-part & Auction Collection - Alloy Hills Recovery, nationwide

Co-part & Auction Collection

Buying at a salvage or trade auction is the easy part. Getting the car off the site is where most people come unstuck. Storage charges start ticking, the yard wants it gone, and a large share of auction cars will not start, steer or roll.

We collect from Copart in Sallins and from any other Irish auction or salvage yard, load on a flatbed, and deliver to your home, your garage or your unit. It makes no difference to us whether the car drives: winch, skates and straps handle the rest.

  • Collection from Copart Sallins and any Irish auction or salvage site
  • Non-runners, no keys, missing wheels and crash damage all handled
  • Delivery anywhere in Ireland, local, short distance or long distance
  • We work to the release paperwork and the yard’s collection window
Vehicle Transport & NCT Transport, Dublin - Alloy Hills Recovery, nationwide

Vehicle Transport & NCT Transport, Dublin

Not every job is a breakdown. We move bought-and-sold cars, auction purchases, dealer stock, project cars, classics and vehicles that are taxed off the road and cannot legally drive to their own NCT appointment.

Because these are booked in advance, they are cheaper than emergency recovery and you get a time slot rather than an ETA. Everything travels on a goods-in-transit policy and is photographed at both ends.

  • Booked slots rather than emergency callout rates
  • Auction and online-purchase collection anywhere in Ireland
  • NCT and DoE test centre transport for untaxed or untested vehicles
  • Classic, project and non-runner transport on a flat bed

Service questions

How much does car recovery cost in Dublin?

Local recovery inside Dublin 15 starts at €90. A cross-Dublin job typically lands between €120 and €180 depending on distance and time of night. You get the exact figure on the phone before we leave the yard - we do not quote a callout fee and then add extras.

Can you recover a car with no keys?

Yes. A flatbed with a winch does not need the car to steer or roll freely. We use skates or a set of dollies if the wheels are locked solid.

Do you recover cars from underground car parks?

Yes, in most cases. Tell us the car park and the clearance height when you call and we will bring the low-clearance kit and pull the vehicle out to street level first.

Is it legal to tow a car on a rope in Ireland?

Rope towing on a public road is heavily restricted and leaves you exposed on insurance if anything happens. A licensed recovery truck is the safe and legal option, and for automatics and all-wheel-drive cars it is the only option that does not risk the transmission.

Can you tow an electric car?

Yes, but only on a flatbed with all four wheels off the ground - towing an EV on its wheels can drive the motor as a generator and damage it. Every EV we move goes on the bed.

How far will you tow?

Anywhere in Ireland. Dublin, Meath and Kildare are our daily patch; longer transport to Cork, Galway or Belfast is quoted per kilometre.

Will my insurance cover the recovery?

Most comprehensive policies do, and many third-party policies do after an accident. We give you a fully itemised invoice and recovery docket so you can claim it back - and we can talk directly to your insurer if you would rather.

My car will not roll after the crash. Can you still move it?

Yes. Skates go under locked or missing wheels and the winch does the rest. Bent steering and collapsed suspension are routine for us.

Can you take the car straight to my own garage?

Yes. You choose the destination - your repairer, an assessment centre, or your own driveway if you have not decided yet.

What size van can you actually take?

Small and medium vans - Berlingo, Combo, Caddy, Connect, Doblo, Partner and similar - plus 4x4s and pickups. Long-wheelbase Lutons, box vans and anything much over three and a half tonnes are beyond our bed. Tell us the model on the phone and you will get a straight yes or no.

Can you recover a van that is fully loaded?

In most cases yes, depending on the combined weight. Tell us roughly what is in the back when you call so we know before we set off rather than after.

Can you tow a 4x4 with two wheels on the ground?

We will not, and neither should anyone else. Permanent four-wheel-drive systems are damaged by it. Every 4x4 we move goes on a full flatbed.

Stuck right now? We answer 24 hours a day.
